There are at least thirty field sales tracking apps sold in India. They all do GPS attendance, visit logging, order capture and a dashboard. The difference is not the feature list. It is whether the owner reads anything it produces after the first month.
What the main apps do
| App | Built for | Strength | Where it usually fails | Pricing shape |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delta Sales App | SMEs, distributors | Simple, cheap, quick to start | Dashboard is not read; data entry quality drops in month two | Per user per month |
| FieldAssist | FMCG with large sales teams | Beat planning, scheme management, distributor integration | Heavy for a 15-rep team; needs a sales ops person to own it | Per user, enterprise contracts |
| TrackoField | Field staff of any kind | Strong on attendance, tasks and expenses | Weak on orders and dealer master; generic | Per user per month |
| Beatroute | Distributor-led brands | Route and distributor focus, offline mode | Configuration effort; built for brands with distributor managers | Per user, tiered |
| Zoho Creator or Zoho CRM | Anyone already on Zoho | Flexible, cheap | Someone has to build and maintain it; usually nobody does | Per user per month |
All five are competent software. None of them is the reason a promoter’s sales reports are late and wrong. The reason is that nobody owns the data after the app is installed: the dealer master has duplicates, reps mark attendance from home, the dashboard is opened on the day of the demo and the day of the sales review.
The questions that actually decide it
- Who cleans the dealer master, and who keeps it clean? If the answer is “the reps”, the data will be wrong by month two.
- Who reads the output, and in what form? A dashboard is not read. A message at 9 am is.
- What happens when a rep switches GPS off? If nobody is told the same day, nothing happens.
- Does it read and write Tally and the distributor Excel, or is it another island?
- Who is accountable for verified visits going up? The vendor sells licences. Accountability for the number is not in the contract.
The option the lists do not include
Have the tracking run for you. An app on every rep’s phone, yes, but also an agent that cleans the dealer master, checks every visit photo, names the rep with no location, and sends the owner one message at 9 am. A number agreed in writing: verified visits per rep, fake visits to zero, days sales outstanding. If it is not met in 90 days, the people who deployed it keep working at no charge for up to 90 more days.
That is what we do. It costs more than a licence and less than a sales ops hire, and the difference is that someone is answerable every Monday.
